| Note | The marriage record for John Culham and Emily Sipes shows John's parents as William and Margaret. John and Emily are buried in the same plot as William and Margaret. Margaret's last name appears on the gravestone as Williams, per a transcription done by the Hamilton Branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society. Agewise, it seems likely that William Culham is a brother of Henry Culham, both of Beverly and both of whom are buried in Sheffield Cemetery. This has not been explored. Death reg. 020203-86 Beverly Twp., Wentworth Co. William Culham died August 27th, 1886. Age 81. Born Wales. United Brethren. Physician and informant Dr. Smith. Registered Sept. 1st, 1886. Registrar Wallace McDonald's handwriting is questionable as to William's date of death. He may have died on the 29th. Usually, though not always, Dr. Smith was quite prompt with his registrations. That the 27th is probably correct is better than a guess - but not much. The dates of death on the gravestone, as transcribed, show only the year. We may add here that when McDonald wrote the registration for Margaret Culham, William's wife, ten years previously, he clearly wrote the number 9 in her date of death. His handwriting deteriorated further over the years. |
