The marriage was performed in North Dumfries Township. A notice to this effect appear in the Dumfries Reformer issue of 6 Feb. 1867. This refers to the date of the wedding as 5 February 1867, though it states that both parties were of Blenheim Township. This information was extracted from the Reformer by Rosemary Abrose.

The county marriage registrations usually omitted the exact location of the marriage and we are left with only the county that the marriage was registered in and, especially with Robert Acheson, this was not always a certainty. First Church marriage registers prior to 1859 usually provided the 'where' of a marriage, but, thereafter, used a copy of the form that would be submitted to the county registrar and so contained the same information as the registrar received and is which then only available to us, unless we have some sort of information from a newspaper notice, such as above.
