His name does not appear on the stone. (See Waterloo Region branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society for the transcription of section 2, Mountview Cemetery, Galt.)

The U.S. Social Security Death index indicates that Hector died in Florida in April of 1973. It gives his date of birth as 1 March 1884. Based on this date, a birth registration has been found, though the clerk's handwriting is difficult:

Birth reg. 002044-84 Brantford, Brant Co., Ontario
1 March 1884 Hector Wenet Digby Brown, s/o Alfred Stevens Brown, insurance agent, and Hannah Buchanan (Hannah's last name is so badly written, it could be anything). The informant was A. Stevens Brown, insurance agent, Brantford. Physician Dr. J. W. Digby.

(Hector was evidently named after the doctor who delivered him whose name was James Winniett Digby. He was born in Brantford in 1842 and died in 1906. He is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, Brantford, and a transcription of his gravestone, as provided by the Brant County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, shows his full name. In turn, Dr. James Winniett Digby was named after Major James Winniett. He appears in a Burford Township history but was also a resident of Brantford for some years. Winniett Street was named after him. Based on Grace Anglican Church, Brantford, transcriptions, it appears that the Winniett and Digby families were at the very least acquainted. )

The Miami Herald edition of 16 April 1973 in a section for Greater Miami Deaths, simply shows Hector's service as 'today' and the name of the funeral chapel. It does not show his death date, though it was unlikely earlier than the 14th. It shows his residence as 736 NE 83rd Ter. and his age as 89. He was a plumbing estimator.

Newspaper indexes for his marriage and the death of his wife indicate that one of his given names was Wenet. This is illegible on handwritten records, but does appear to be correct.

As of the 1920 census at Manhattan, New York, Hector is with his parents Alfred and Hannah.

By 1930, they are located at Pelham Village, Westchester County, New York, but with them is Hector's wife, Carrie Lou, age 40, born Georgia. We do not presently know her maiden name or when or where they were married.

By the time of the 1940 census in Tampa, Floria, Hector and Carrie are living on their own. Alfred and Hannah are still living and in Florida, but not at the same address.

In 1942, the 'old man's draft', draft forms for men born between 1877 and 1897, Hector and Carrie Lou are living in Washington Grove, Maryland.

By the time of the 1945 Florida State census, Hector is living with his mother in Dade County, Florida. By this time, Alfred is deceased and Carrie Lou is not present with them.

Hector married for a third time in June of 1960. Ancestry provides us with a Florida Marriage Index. It shows that Hector W.D. Brown married a Mary Vitale. They are listed in Dade, Florida, volume 1898, certificate nbr. 19898.
