Marriage / Brown & MacDonald / 19th of June 1889

On the nineteenth day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and eighty-nine
Benjamin Hallowell Brown of the city of Montreal P.Q., insurance manager, a widower, and Kate Copeland MacDonald of Stanstead, illeg., Province of Quebec, a spinster, were united in the Bonds of Holy Matrimony by me by the authority of license in the presence of the following witnesses subscribing their names.

Alf'd McCann, clergyman

B. Hal. Brown
illeg. MacDonald
and three more names in varying degrees illegible.

DeathShe died on 24 September 1941 at Montreal, Quebec, at age 71.
BurialShe was buried on 4 October 1941 at Crystal Lake Cemetery, Stanstead, Stanstead Co., Quebec.
NoteKate's date of birth is taken from the 1901 census as enumerated at Montreal.

Records show Kate's name to be Kate Copeland MacDonald. It's tempting to wonder if she was a widow and that her maiden name was Copeland. This appears to be not the case, for she is shown as Kate Copeland MacDonald, spinster on her marriage regristration.

Beyond that, we have two further records:

From the Drouin Collection, Via Ancestry,

United Church / Stanstead / Sherbrooke / Quebec

Kate Copeland MacDonald, widow of Benjamin Hallowell Brown, of Montreal, died in Montreal, on the twenty fourth day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and forty-one and her remains were cremated at the Crematorium Limited in Montreal and deposited in the Crystal Lake Cemetery of Stanstead on the fourth of October in the same year in the presence of the subscribing witnesses.
(signed) O.M. Stewart, minister
The first witness's signature is mainly illegible, but the last name might be Brown, and John Shipway.

Also, from Interment.net we have a transcription for Crystal Lake Cemetery. This makes it evident that Kate was buried with family members.
