Delphine was actually born at Galt, according to her birth registration. Also, it may be noted that her witness, Greta Hunter, was her first cousin, daughter of Mary Jane Buchanan and William Hunter.

NoteDelphine's birth registration is 034373-94, Galt, Waterloo Co., 14 September 1894, d/o Angus Ego, doctor, and Bessie L. Buchanan. The 1901 census gives her birth year as 1895, but the registration in context with the others on the page is obviously 1894. She is with her parents, age 16, at the time of the 1911 census and is referred to as Dell. Her full name is given as Bessie Delphine Ego. Her mother's name is actually shown as Bessie. Since her mother's name was actually Elizabeth, I have shown Delphine's first name as Elizabeth. This is likely correct.

It's evident that her mother went to Galt to have Delphine. Dr. Wardlaw delivered the baby. The informant has the appearance of being Thora Buchanan. I imagine that the clerk wasn't sure about the handwriting. Most likely the informant was actually Theron Buchanan.
