On 12th August, 1878, at St. George, by Rev. David Chalmers. David Chalmers was the Wesleyan Methodist minister at St. George from 1877 to 1879. With Arthur being Anglican and Jane United Brethren, the arrangement with a Wesleyan Methodist minister to marry them must have been one of convenience. It may in part be accounted for by Ellen Sager's residence in St. George at the time. She was Jane's sister. |

| Note | Arthur W. Faulkner in his registration of marriage with Jane Misener notes that his parents were Thomas and 'Alitia' (Alicia) Faulkner. Information such as we have in the 1851 census in West Flamborough (and other census information) approximates his year of birth to 1814. Ancestry provides a database entitled London, England, Church of England, Births and Baptisms, 1813-1906. This shows for Islington in the Parish of St. John's Clerkenwell in Middlesex County a baptism for Arthur Wellesley Faulkner (yes, he was named after the Duke of Wellington). This shows his date of birth as July 17, 1814, and his date of baptism as August 14, 1814. His parents are shown as Thomas and Alicia. Arthur Faulkner, inn keeper, age 38, is in West Flamborough Township at the time of the 1851 census. with him is wife Ann, age 48. Both are born in England. Also apparently with them are three persons, all born Canada: Eliz. Wilson, age 18; Susan Wilson, age 14; Louiza Wilson, age 11. Later records for these three young women have not been found. It may be that they are the daughters of Ann by a previous marriage, but evidence for this has not been found. We do not know Ann's maiden name. Consistently, in the 1861 and 1871 censuses, she is shown as some ten years older than Arthur. Arthur and Ann are also shown regularly as being of the Church of England. By the time of the 1861 census, Arthur and Ann are in Beverly Township. He is 47 and Ann is 57. An occupation for Arthur is not shown. By 1871, they are still present in Beverly. Ann is 66 and he is 56, but his given name has been entered by the enumerator as 'Ara'. He is shown as a merchant. This is the last census wherein he has been found. Ann Faulkner died in Beverly on January 19th, 1877, and Arthur married Jane Misener on 12th August, 1878, at St. George in South Dumfries Township. Arthur has yet to be found again in census or death information. Jane died in Beverly on August 18th, 1896. Places of burial for Arthur, Ann, or Jane, have not been found. Page 5 of the 1947 A History of the People of Troy mentions Jane Misener's marriage to a Faulkner of Sheffield, but leaves us little else to work with. |
