| Note | An Emma Craise appears in the 1861 census, but has not been found later. There is no evidence that she is in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church cemetery at Port Dalhousie. Agewise, she is not quite the same age as Elinor, but Elinor is not in the 1861 census, though she is in the 1851 and 1871 censuses with her family. Emma has not been found again. Barring further information, it seems likely that the entering of Emma's name by the 1861 enumerator was an error. Eleanor is probably the name intended. For the moment, our only information for the year of Eleanor's death is to be found in the Niagara branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society's transcription of St. Andrew's Presbyterian/United Cemetery in Port Dalhousie. According to this, she died in 1939. |
