| Note | William Henry Stringer in his marriage registration shows his place of birth as Woodhouse Township. His age as of the time of his marriage in 1858 is shown as 24. This would date his birth to approximately 1833 (we may now say that he was born in 1834. See notes under his father's name). At the time, Woodhouse was in the London District. The Talbot District was hived off from the London District in 1837. Still later, this became Norfolk County. There was an entity known as Norfolk County in earlier years that included the same townships. This was not an administrative area, however. The administrative authority resided in the districts. Old Norfolk County had regiments of militia under this name. |
