Christian Campbell
ID # 6208, (1803-1844)
| Father | John G. Campbell (1770-1847) |
| Mother | Margaret (--?--) (1770-1838) |
| Baptism | Christian Campbell was baptized in 1803 at Scotland. |
| Marriage | She married Robert Carrick on 26 July 1837 at Dumfries Township, Gore District. GS2987 First Church, Galt, nbr. 32 After publication of banns in Dumfries on 26th July 1837 Robert Carrick and Christian Campbell, both of Dumfries Witnesses John Chisholme and Malcolm Campbell One transcription of the above marriage shows Robert's surname as Curnick. This is a reasonable transcription based on Rev. James Strang's handwriting, but Christy's gravestone in the St. Andrew's Pergola shows her as the wife of Robert Carrick. An examination of Strang's handwriting shows that Carrick is as reasonable an interpretation of Robert's name as is Curnick. |
| Death | She died on 29 September 1844. |
| Burial | She was buried at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Galt. |
| Note | We do not have a place of death for Christian, or Christie as she seems to have been called. That she was buried in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Galt is taken from a transcription of the St. Andrew's Pergola in St. Andrew's Park, St. Andrew's Street, in Cambridge/Galt. The transcription reads: In Memory of/ Christy / wife of / Robert Carrick / who died Sep 29 1844 / aged 41 years. A photograph of Christy's stone in the St. Andrew's Pergola is to be found on the CanadaGenWeb project. |
