Robert Carrick and Christian Campbell, both of Dumfries

Witnesses John Chisholme and Malcolm Campbell

One transcription of the above marriage shows Robert's surname as Curnick. This is a reasonable transcription based on Rev. James Strang's handwriting, but Christy's gravestone in the St. Andrew's Pergola shows her as the wife of Robert Carrick. An examination of Strang's handwriting shows that Carrick is as reasonable an interpretation of Robert's name as is Curnick.

DeathShe died on 29 September 1844.
BurialShe was buried at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Galt.
NoteWe do not have a place of death for Christian, or Christie as she seems to have been called. That she was buried in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Galt is taken from a transcription of the St. Andrew's Pergola in St. Andrew's Park, St. Andrew's Street, in Cambridge/Galt.

The transcription reads:

In Memory of/ Christy / wife of / Robert Carrick / who died Sep 29 1844 / aged 41 years.

A photograph of Christy's stone in the St. Andrew's Pergola is to be found on the CanadaGenWeb project.
