| Note | Birth reg. 004336-69 Beverly Twp., Wentworth Co. Walter Smith born July 25, 1869. Parents David Smith and Anna Beamer. Informant David Smith, farmer, Beverley. Physicia Dr. J. B. Lundy. July of 1869 was the first month in which births were registered with the civil authority. During this period, for some reason, the registrar of Beverly Township spelled Beverly as Beverley. Eventually, he spelled it 'Beverly'. Almira was rather older than Walter. Dates of birth were requested with the 1901 enumeration. There, Walter's is shown as 24 July 1866 and Almira's as 10 November 1864. Almira died in 1910 and in the 1911 census, wherein the month and year only was asked, Walter's birth is shown as July of 1869. His death registration, off by one day, essentially shows the same information. Death reg. 038207-26 Beverly Twp., Wentworth Co. Walter Dustin Smith died May 8, 1926, age 56 yrs., 9 mos., 14 dys. He died at Lynden Village. Married. Born Canada. He is shown as a merchant. He resided at the place of his death for 2 years. Parents David Walter Smith, born Vermont, U.S.A. and Anna Maria Beemer, born Canada. Physician W. A. Weaver, Lynden. Informant William A. Smith, Lynden, brother. Burial St. George on May 10, 1926. A marriage registration for Walter and Almira has yet to be found. This in turn made it difficult to confirm which Walter Smith Almira had married. They had two daughters, however, in the 1890s, who are with them in the 1901 census and they are with their father in the 1911 census. Matching birth information, from the 1911 census especially, with Walter's birth registration as well as his death registration makes it certain enough that he was the son of David Smith and Annie Beamer. |
