Elgin County Marriage Register

Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by David Griffin, minister of the M.E.P. Church for the year ending 1861

Horris (Horace) Westover, 20, born Bayham, residing Dorchester. Parents Horris and Catharine.
Mar. (Margaret) Stover, 17, born and residing Dorchester. Parents James and Ann.
Witness B. Tibbets of Bayham.
On Dec. 15, 1861.

The church was evidently the Methodist Episcopal Church

On December 8th, a week prior, James H. Stover (Hiram) was married to Soph. West. B. Tibbets of Bayham was also witness at this marriage. Margaret, the daughter of Jacob and Ann is evidently the bride referred to in the above marriage. The entry of the bride's father as James probably represents a handwriting problem on the part of the clergyman. He is almost certainly Jacob.
