Rowe. Viola's name appears in a transcription of Greenwood Cemetery, Brantford, as done by the Brant County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society in 2005. This is in a section of the transcription that describes information that appeared in a previous publication, but which is no longer visible. Viola Hope Rowe's date of death appears as July 17, 1967. The transcription from the 'previous publication' is presented alphabetically. There are one or two other Rowe persons show that may or may not be in the same plot. There is a Jean Rowe mentioned who died in April of 1895 at age 4 years and who may be a sister to Viola. What follows is a guess, but if the Rowe gravestone, apparently no longer visible, was in sufficiently poor shape then it's possible that the child buried there isn't Jean, but Irene. A record of birth and death for 'Jean' has not been found. There are problems with this theory, but, again, it would depend upon the readability of the stone at the time of the earlier transcription. Miss Viola Rowe appears in Hamilton with her father at the time of the 1935 voter's list. Just where she was located in later years isn't clear. |
