| Note | Death reg. 002925-99 Burford, Brant Co. Thomas S. McIntee died Feb 1, 1899. Age 45 years. Residence Burford Village. Congregationalist. Born Brampton, Ont. Merchant. Married. Physician and informant Dr. F. H. Johnston. Cause of death heart failure two weeks. Thomas marriage registration shows his place of birth as Trafalgar Township in Halton County. His death registration places his birth at Brampton. Since Thomas likely provided the information for his birth place himself at the time of his marriage it might seem reasonable to accept Trafalgar as his place of birth. His parents, however, Peter and Ellen McIntee, are in Chinguacousy Township of Peel County as of the 1851 census. Since Peter was born in 1857, he does not appear in census information until the 1861 census, and since the family is still in Chinguacousy as of this census, it seems the more likely that Chinguacousy is where he was born. Brampton is located in this township and it could be said that he was born near Brampton. An 1877 gazetteer places the family on the 6th concession of this township and they are on lot 5. Thomas' date of birth, July 27, 1857, appears on his gravestone in Burford Congregational Cemetery. |
