Page 14 of the November 5, 1927, edition of the Toronto Daily Star has an attractive obituary for Jacob, including a photograph. Such newspaper accounts do contain the occasional error. This story tells that he was born in Hespeler, but his own marriage registration as well as some census information tells that he was born in Preston, which is the more likely correct. The story tells that Jacob, in his day, enjoyed curling and bowling. He was a manager of the Molson's Bank prior to his retirement. At the time of his death, he was living in the Alexandra Apartments with his daughter Ethel. His daughter Laura is identified at Mrs. Adam Currie of Cornwall (Ontario). Jacob, an Anglican, attended the Church of the Redeemer while living in Toronto. The day of Jacob's death was a Friday, 4 November, 1927, and the funeral was held Monday, November 7, at Waterloo.
