NoteInformation as to Annie Hespeler Bowlby's place of birth is to be found in the transcription of birth notices as they appeared in the Dumfries Reformer (of Galt) for the years 1860-1865 and as transcribed by Rosemary Ambrose. Mrs. Ambrose quotes the 19th of March, 1862, edition of the Reformer which tells that on March 7, 1862, a daughter was born to W. H. Bowlby, a barrister, at Bowhill, Berlin. The date of birth accords with Annie's date of birth as shown in the 1901 census. As of this census, Annie was living with husband George in Ottawa.

Information as to the place of Annie's death and then, later, her place of burial, is to be found in the burial book pages of Beechwood Cemetery in Ottawa.

Page 90 of the book tells that Annie Hespeler Perley died on 22 August, 1910, at age 48, the result of a pulmonary embolism. This shows her late residence as 733 Metcalfe Street, Ottawa. There is also a note inserted above her name and below the previous listing to the effect that the death was in London, England. At first glance it was difficult to understand to which person the note applied, but the FreeBMD index made it plain enough that Annie died in Westminster, London, in the 3rd quarter of 1910. It is only the Beechwood burial book that gives us the exact date.

The only information relating to Annie's parentage is that her maiden name is shown as Bowlby. Her husband is shown as Geo. H. Perley, M.P., Ottawa.
