ID # 6987, (1881-1942)

| Marriage | He married Abigail Mary Revell on 15 September 1915 at Quebec City, Quebec. The marriage of James and Abigail is to be found in the Drouin Collection via Ancestry. It was performed at St. Matthew's Anglican Church in Quebec City. James Byard Warnock, of Toronto, bachelor, of major age, clerk, and Abigail Mary, daughter of Richard McArthur Revell, of Woodstock, Ontario, spinster of major age, were married on the 15th day of September, A.D. 1915, by me signature illegible. The couple signed the page and the witnesses are shown as J. S. Lockwood (slightly blotched) and R. M. Revell. |

| Note | Birth reg. 033841-81 Galt, Waterloo Co. James Byard Warnock born 9 January 1881. Parents James Warnock, manufacturer, and Kate H. Byard. Physician Dr. Lundy. Informant James Warnock, Galt. Filed on June 20th 1881 The family gravestone in Mountview Cemetery, Galt, shows James date of birth as 9 January, 1881. The Galt registrar's handwriting can be difficult, but James' date of birth is clearly written as 9 January. His father, James Warnock, tended to file the children's birth registrations after some months, in this case, June. The first and third child of James and Kate was delivered by Dr. Lundy. We do not know if Dr. Lundy had a residence in Galt, but he certainly owned some acreage on the 8th concession of Beverly close to James father and was doctor to John and Annie Warnock. Dr. Lundy lived a bit closer to Galt than did the John Warnocks, if indeed in lived on the Beverly acreage. Death reg. 016687-43 Windsor, Essex Co. James Byard Warnock died December 31, 1942, at 1217 Victoria Ave., Windsor. Also his residence. Born Galt on Jan. 9, 1881. Age 61 yrs, 11 mos., 22 dys. Occupation manager corporations. Name of wife Abigail. Parents James Warnock, born Scotland, and Katherine Byard, born Mobile, Ala. Physician Dr. Cressweller. Informant Abigail Warnock, 1217 Victoria Ave., wife. Burial Galt Jan 3, 1943. James' date of death is inscribed on the family's gravestone in Section 4 of Mountview Cemetery in Cambridge/Galt as 30 December, 1942. His death registration, however, shows his death as 31 December. Add to that, page 27 of the Saturday, January 2, 1943, edition of the Toronto Star has an obituary that tells that he died the previous Thursday (the 31st) and that the funeral was that day (Saturday) and that his remains were then taken to Galt for burial that afternoon. This seems more likely than being buried on the 3rd, which was a Sunday. (Trinity's burial records show the date of his burial as January 2.) The obituary tells something of his career. He was general manager of the Walker Metal Products, Walkerville Land and Building Co., Walkerville Lumber Co., and Walker Farms. He had been connected with the head office of the Canadian Bank of Commerce and had been production manager for Massey-Harris in Toronto. |
