| Note | Birth reg. 025522-74 Galt, Waterloo Co. Amelia Beers Warnock born 13 August 1874. Parents James Warnock, manufacturer, and Kate Byard. Physician Dr. Lundy. Informant James Warnock. An obituary for Amelia appeared in the Saturday, September 8, 1956, edition of the Toronto Daily Star. This tells that she died on September 7th, St. Michael's Hospital, which agrees with her date of death as it appears on the family gravestone. The obituary tells that in her early years she studied opera in New York City. She later toured giving recitals and she would also present commentary on the songs that she sang. Later, she became literary editor for the Mail & Empire, Toronto, but gave up newspaper work when she married. She was a member of the Canadian Authors Association. Her funeral was to be held on Tuesday, September 11th, in the morning followed by interment in Galt. |
