| Note | Leslie Baptie only appears in the 1871 census. A later record has yet to be found. What we do have, however, and which fits for Leslie as he appears in the 1871 census (male, age 10) is a birth notice in the Dumfries Reformer. This is as transcribed by Rosemary Ambrose. The 10 April, 1861, edition of the paper tells that D. Baptie of St. George had a son on 28 March, 1861. (The 1861 census was done in January of the year and so of course Leslie does not appear therein.) |
