| Note | The 1881 census shows a Marion Duncan, child of William and Christina, born in November of 1880. The 1901 census shows Hannah Duncan as being born 4 September 1881. It's questionable that Hannah is in fact Marion (2 given names), but her gravestone in Edmonton, Alberta, shows her year of birth as 1880. There is room for error here, but, probably, Hannah, as later records show her, was the same person as Marion. (It turns out that Hannah's middle initial was F. There may well have been a child Marion who didn't survive. Other than the 1871 census, however, no direct evidence has been found. Years of death for William and Hannah are taken from their gravestone in Edmonton Municipal Cemetery. A photograph of this stone is to be found on Find-a-Grave. |
