Halton County Marriage Register

Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by James Caswell, a minister of the Canadian Wesleyan Methodist New Connexion, for the year ending 31st December, A.D. 1858

Christopher Teeple, 25, born and residing Nelson. Parents Eli and Margaret.
Elizabeth Buckham, 19, born St. Helens, Canada East, residing Nelson. Parents Thomas and Elizabeth Buckham.
Witness Robert Hawthorne of Milton.
On October 29, 1858.

Bride Elizabeth's maiden name is rendered on the registration as Bucham. Some census research plus research of the children's marriages, shows that her maiden name was Buchan.

In 1858, Rev. Caswell was located in Milton of Halton County. Milton is actually in Trafalgar Township. The marriage may have been held in Milton or perhaps at a family's residence. The county marriage register entries are not usually specific.

DeathShe died in 1915.
BurialShe was buried at Waterdown Cemetery, East Flamborough Township, Wentworth Co..
NoteA sure record has yet to be found for Elizabeth in the 1851 census or for her parents in the 1861 census. Her parents are shown as Thomas and Elizabeth per her marriage registration.
