NoteHe Ephraim's birth date is taken from the 1901 census at Dunwich Township, Elgin West. He is with his parents, is age 37, and is shown as a farmer's son.

Apparently in his earlier years, Ephraim dabbled in real estate. A family story has it that he had a property that he thought might interest his nephew, Alven Coleman, for a barber shop. Alven wasn't really interested, but at Eph's urging Alven took the train to Chatham and looked at the property and came home and said no dice. Galt suited him just fine.

In later years, Ephraim was in Wisconsin and appears there in the 1920 and 1930 censuses and it is said that he worked as a laborer in a lumber company.

Find-a-Grave has a photo of his gravestone at Forest Hill Cemetery in Wisconsin Rapids, Wood County. It also quotes an obituary from the Wisconsin Rapids Daily Tribune, dated April 23, 1932. It clearly names his surviving siblings in Canada, but also tells that his brother Sam was living in Wisconsin Rapids. The death notice indicates that Ephraim died the previous day.

The inscription on Eph's stone reads: Ephraim Church, 1863-1932.

Ephraim was known to the family as Uncle Eph (pronounced Eef) and the 1930 census shows him as Eph Church.
