NoteSee notes for John's father, Adam. There is at least some possibility that John's mother was named Catherine, possibly Catherine Horn. This isn't certain. Nowhere are we told the name of John's mother. For the present at least, we show her in this tree as Barbara Gabel. This is the more likely to be correct. Indeed, to a degree, something by the way of a confirmation may be in front of us. If his middle initial was indeed G, per his death registration, then his middle name may have been Gabel.

Filed on 10th April, 1891.

According to land records, 54 L R is lot 54 in the Lake Range. This was evidently the family's home in Saugeen Township as of 1890. See notes for John's father Adam.

According to a transcription of Sanctuary Park Cemetery at Port Elgin, as done by the Bruce-Grey branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, John's middle initial is shown as E. The death registration has it as G.

John is buried with his parents and his sister Margaret.

The death registration does not tell us of his marital status.
