| Note | There is a registration of birth for Barbara Young, though it has problems so far as official standing might have been concerned . This appears on a page of births for Saugeen Township. It, along with five other registrations on the page has been X'd out. A search has been made for a record of it elsewhere without success. It is probably for this reason that the Archives of Ontario has not applied their mechanical number stamp, but it has been indexed by Ancestry. Beyond that, however, it is a perfectly reasonable looking birth registration and it reads as follows. Birth reg. Saugeen Township, Bruce Co. Barbara Young born October 14th, 1876. Parents Adam Young, carpenter, and Barbara Gable. Physician Dr. Franks. Informant Adam Young of the Township Saugeen, carpenter. Filed on October 21st. 1876. This is the earliest registration of birth found for the children of Adam and Barbara and is the earliest documentation placing the family in Saugeen Township. There is nothing to say as to where in the township the family was located. It was 12 years before the family bought the portions of two lots in Saugeen's lake range. |
