Parents Peter Smith, born England, and ---Weaver. Informant L. E. Yates, 210 Liverpool Street, niece. Burial St. George. Date simply says November 1921. Several records have her name as Alminia. A transcription of St. George Cemetery has her name on the gravestone as Almina. CanGenWeb also has a photograph of the stone and this confirms the inscription as Almina. She is buried in the same plot as her brother Firman. Almina apparently spent her last days with a niece, Mrs. Yates of Guelph. Vernon's directory for Guelph for the years 1920 and 1922 confirm the Yates presence at 210 Liverpool Street, though Almina is not mentioned. The 1901 census in Windham Township shows Almina's date of birth as 2 September, 1841. Her death registration shows her date of birth as November 5, 1836. Considering that she is shown as 14 in the 1851 census at South Dumfries, this latter date should be correct. Almina was not a widow at the time of her death, for Enos was still living. He died in 1938 and is entombed in the mausoleum at Mount Hope Cemetery in Brantford. |
