| Note | Both Fretz in his Wismer history, 1893, and Ezra Eby in volume 2 of his Waterloo Township biographies, 1896, state that Rebecca Wismer was dead. A year of death is not given and a place of burial for her has not been found. We must believe that Rebecca went to an early grave, but did she live long enough that she married? No evidence has been found to say so.
The best we may say is that Rebecca was present with her mother and father as of the 1861 census in West Williams Township. She is shown as age 8, or least age 8 as of her next birthday. She is not present with her mother and her step father as of the 1871 census, also in West Williams, though her younger siblings are present. For whatever assistance it may prove to be, the family is shown as Baptist in both censuses. |
