| Note | Thomas Priestman is buried in Pelham Hicksite Quaker Cemetery in Pelham Township. The Niagara branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society transcribed this cemetery in 1981. His gravestone is shown as nbr. 91. The transcription reads: Thomas Priestman Jr. died 11. 4.mo. 1862 Aged 22 yrs 18 dys. His mother, Betsy Priestman, is buried with him. She died in 1871 and her stone is shown as nbr. 90. It's interesting to contemplate the 'junior' abbreviation, but difficult to know the intent. Thomas does, however, appear with his parents Joseph and Betsy in the 1861 census in Wainfleet and with his mother being buried beside him it's difficult to identify him as being otherwise than her son. |
