| Note | Baptism information for Janet is to be found in First Church's baptism records. She was baptized on July 23rd, 1843. First Church death records did not begin until the mid 1850s and none of the Shepherd children appear therein. Janet could quite possibly have survived childhood and might have been one of the three sisters that went to Michigan. Reasonable proof of such is lacking, however, and it seems the more likely that she was buried in the old First Church cemetery, probably in a grave adjoining that of her mother.
