The reader may notice Markdale marriages registered in both Glenelg and Artemisia townships. This is entirely possible, for Markdale straddled the township line. There is actually a swath of surveys angling through Grey County that runs along the Toronto-Sydenham Road. Looked at from the standpoint of individual townships, this has the appearance of a gore, for the Toronto-Sydenham survey runs at a northwest to southeast angle, whereas the surveys for the townships are much more east-west.
