Via the Ontario Genealogical Society and the link to the Waterloo Region branch, see their records for St. Peter's Lutheran Church Preston. This doesn't add much, but does show the correct name of the witness, A. Ward, as being Oliver Ward. It does also locate the marriage in Preston, but, considering the manner in which the information for the registration was submitted, the marriage will have been held in North Dumfries Township, probably at the home of the bride.

NoteOur information for Ernest Gale is limited. The 1921 census shows his place of birth as Ireland and his age as 41, which would place his year ot birth to approximately 1880. This census shows his year of coming to Canada as 1891.

According to the Cambridge Cemeteries office, Ernest was born in 1884 and his date of death they show as 29 January, 1958 They locate his death in Cambridge. Since 'Cambridge' did not exist in 1958, this is shown here as Galt, which is the most reasonable considering the available information. The Waterloo branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society did transcribe section 5 of Mountview Cemetery, but shows only a burial card for Ernest, which is not dated in their transcription. According to the cemetery office, Ernest is buried beside Mary.

A note here: Ernest's year of 1884, as shown by the Cambridge Cemetery records, is almost certainly incorrect. The couple's marriage registration and the 1921 census would suggest that a birth year for Ernest of either 1880 or 1881 is closer to accurate.

A census page for Ernest prior to 1921 has not been found.
