MS248 reel 2, Vol. 11, page 281 Home District Marriage Register 1839-1848 Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by Rev'd John Baxter of the Wesleyan Methodist Church in the Home District between March 11, 1846, and March 11, 1847 Robert Love and Mary Ann Fleury, Home District, King Township. By Banns On Dec. 23, 1846 Witnesses Alexander Fleury and Thomas Ross. |
| Note | The marriage notes for Robert and Mary Ann show that one of the witnesses at their marriage was Alexander Fleury. The 1851 census in King Township of York County shows Alex Fleury, age 28, with a wife and a three year old child. The same page has three families of Love enumerated on it, one of them being that of Robert and Mary Ann. No background information has been found for the Fleurys, but it seems likely that Alexander was Mary Ann's brother. This is hardly a certainly, but something for other researchers to consider. It may be added that the 1851 census for King Township has the surviving component of an agricultural census. This shows Alex Fleury on Concession 1 West, lot 10, with 1 acre (that's one acre). Well down the page there appears a John 'Flury' on Concession 1 West, lot 9, and he has 100 acres. The same page shows three Loves with property, Robert Love having 100 acres. He is located on Concession 1 West, lot 7. |
