Toronto Marriage Register, 1866-1869

Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by Rev'd H. J. Grasett, B.D., minister of the Church of England, for the year ending the 31st day of December, A.D. 1866

George Campbell, 27, born Canada, residing Esquesing. Parents John and Abigail Campbell.
Annie Fyfe, 19, born Canada, residing Toronto. Parents Henry and Elizabeth Fyfe.
Witnesses J. A. Campbell of Esquesing and Jane Anderson of Toronto.
On 16th Oct. 1866.

The above appears as a Rev. Grasett marriage as submitted to the Toronto registrar. Robertson's Landmarks of Toronto, 1898, however, which has an extensive list of St. James marriages does show the marriage as being performed by Edm. Baldwin and he does appear as the officiating clergy in the odd other marriage. No doubt it was Jennings who wrote up the list to the registrar, but in all probability it was Baldwin who performed the marriage, for as best as may be seen, Robertson was transcribing directly from the church records.

NoteWesleyan Methodist Baptisms for York County, 1835-1910, shows Ann Fyfe, father N. J. Fyfe, as bing born at King (Township) 11 July, 1846, and baptized at Thornhill by Rev. Samuel Rose on 20 September, 1846.

Thornhill village sits on the border of Vaughan and Markham Townships.

A baptism for sister Elizabeth Jane has yet to be found.
