Rather unusually, a register has survived for births, marriages, and deaths in Perth County, and from a rather early era - namely 1852-1859. This has been transcribed by Dan Walker and Fawne Stratford-Devai and is made available by Global Heritage Press, now of Ottawa. As with later county marriage registers, an exact place of marriage is almost never given. | Note | Volume 2 of Ezra Eby's Biographical history of Waterloo County tells that Jacob and Leah moved to Kansas and that some point they settled in Garlington where they farmed. The 1880 U.S. census appears, to some degree, to confirm this, showing the family in Tilden Township in Kansas. They appear to live adjacent to Daniel Hammacher, age 52, probably Leah's brother. The dates of Jacob and Leah's deaths are taken from information to be found on their gravestone in Mount Hope Cemetery, Bloomington, Osborne County, Kansas, and as provided by Find-a-Grave.
