| Note | See Fretz page 302. Fretz simply gives Salome's dates of birth and death: April 15, 1833 to August 8, 1833. This will no doubt have been received by Fretz from family members who were referring to a bible record. Salome was likely born in Markham Township and, less than four months later, died there. We do not, however, have such a record. Many of the Wismers, including Salome's parents and grandparents are buried in Quantztown Cemetery in Markham. This cemetery has been transcribed by the York County branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society. The preamble to this transcription tells us that the first burial there was in 1844. Not so far away is the Ramer Cemetery. The York OGS transcribed this as well, the first recording being in 1969. The earliest stone recorded is dated 1833, but the earliest names aren't Wismers. Salome's Uncle, Jacob Wismer, and his wife Elizabeth Wurts, are buried here as well as some of their children. |
