MS248 reel 12, Vol. 45, page 201 Ontario County Marriage Register, 1858-1863 Extracted from a list of marriages solemnized by Jesse Tatton for the year 1862, filed 3rd January, 1863. ' Henry P. Hund (Hand), 24, born Toronto, residing Markham. Parents John and Jane. Lydia E. Wismer, 22, born and residing Markham. Parents David and Mary. Witnesses James Logee of Osprey and Ulbertina (Albertina) Wismer of Markham. On September 14, 1862. Religious denomination of Jesse Tatton not given. |
| Note | See Fretz page 303. Fretz, in his 1893 Wismer family book, places Henry and Lydia in Florida and shows their post office as Daytona. The 1900 U.S. census, enumerated at Volusia County, tells that Henry and Lydia came to the United States in 1876...which doesn't quite make sense given that they have with them a son Harry, said to be born in Pennsylvania in October of 1870. The other inconsistency in this census is that Lydia's date of birth is given as February, 1840, which agrees with her date of birth as shown in Fretz's work. Her age is given as 60. Husband Henry's age on the other hand is shown as 72, but his date of birth is shown as February of 1838. If the year of his birth is correct, then his age was 62. |
