Cause of death valvular heart disease, three or four months. Physician and informant Dr. McCrimmon, Lucknow. A place of burial for John and Jane has not been found. Rev. Donald McKenzie has made available the transcriptions of obituaries as they appeared in various years in the Christian Guardian, a Methodist publication. See page 347 of his Volume 7 which provides a obituary for John Taylor. (There are a total of 12 volumes available and they are published by Global Genealogy, formerly of Milton, but now of Ottawa. These are in print and digital format.) John's obituary tells that he was born in Heysham, England, in 1810, and was left an orphan at age 3. It tells that he married in 1835, but does not name his wife. It is said that he came to Canada in 1849 and settled in Vaughan (York County) and then goes on to say that he moved to Huron Township in 1861. He is said to have died on March 27, 1873, (which is confirmed by his death registration, as shown above) and that at his date of death he was 63 years and 2 days of age. This originally appeared on page 31 of the Jan. 28, 1874, edition of the Guardian, an unusually late date, even for the Guardian. No obituary has been found for his wife Jane. |
