His place of birth is not shown, but was almost certainly in Dumfries Township, probably in what was later North Dumfries. Alexander's gravestone in Section 3 of Mountview Cemetery, as transcribed by the Waterloo branch of the Ontario Genealogical Society, shows his dates of birth and death as: Dec. 22, 1849 - Jan. 24, 1916. His wife, Isabella's dates are shown as Dec. 16, 1850 - Jan. 19, 1932. Death reg. 034270-16 Galt, Waterloo Co. Alexander J. Wilson, age 67, died January 24, 1916. Place of death 92 Shade Street, Galt. Born Dumfries Twp. Retired. Married. Physician Dr. Buchanan. Informant G. J. Little (undertaker), Galt. See page 180 of Norma Huber's Funeral Notice Cards of Waterloo County, from 1851 to 1980. This tells that the funeral was from Alexander's home at 92 Shade Street on January 26th and would then proceed to Mountview Cemetery. |
