Luther A Ross was born on 30 January 1856 in Scott County, Iowa.1,2 He was the son of Dr Luther Ross and Melissa B Clapp.1 He married Ella Florence Graves, daughter of Roswell Graves and Eugenia C Clapp, on 12 September 1892 in Ogden, Weber County, Utah.3

He and Ella Florence Graves lived in Butte, Silver Bow County, Montana, from abt 1893 until after1900.4 He died on 2 October 1924 in Spokane, Spokane County, Washington, at age 68.5,6
Luther's obituary in the Spokesman-Review on 4 October 1924 read:
He was buried on 6 October 1924 in Riverside Park Cemetery, Spokane, Spokane County, WashingtonG; note: per cemetery office he is buried here, but there is no marker.2
Research Note: The 1870 and 1910 censuses say Luther was born in Canada; the 1900 and 1920 censuses say Iowa.




Luther's obituary in the Spokesman-Review on 4 October 1924 read:
"LUTHER A ROSS: 68 years old, of Garfield St, lived in Spokane for 18 years. Survived by his wife Ella; a stepson: GA Oldham - Spokane; a stepdaughter: Mrs Florence Shaffer - Colville; a brother: HB Ross - living in Seattle; a daughter: Mrs Velona Carpenter - living in North Bend WA. Funeral service Monday afternoon at Hazen-Jaeger's parlors; Elder Hanson officiating. Interment at Riverside Park."7,2
He was buried on 6 October 1924 in Riverside Park Cemetery, Spokane, Spokane County, WashingtonG; note: per cemetery office he is buried here, but there is no marker.2
