Lydia Weaver

ID # 8105, (1805-1892)
BirthLydia Weaver was born in 1805 at Fort Erie, Bertie Township, Niagara District.
MarriageShe married Peter Smith
DeathShe died in 1892.
NoteShe To this point the one family record that shows Lydia's maiden name to be Weaver is daughter Almina's death registration. A direct record has yet to be found, but, looking over Ancaster's Heritage, Volume 1, page 217 shows Lydia Weaver to be the daughter of William Weaver and Elizabeth Near. This information places Lydia's birth in, or near, Fort Erie in 1805. Lydia's parents are buried in Bethel Methodist Church Cemetery in Ancaster Township. This is inferential, but reasonable.

Lydia was still living as of the 1891 census in South Dumfries Township. She is with son Firman, by now long widowed, and daughter Almina. Firman died in 1894. A registration of death for Lydia has not been found. A record for her death has not been found in the index for the Brantford Expositor. Firman and Almina are buried in St. George Cemetery, which was at one time a Wesleyan Methodist Cemetery. The family was Baptist, however. Lydia's husband Peter is buried in St. George Baptist Cemetery on Burt Road. Lydia may be buried there as well, but no record of a burial has been found.

What has been found for Lydia is an index that shows a will for Lydia Smith of South Dumfries. The number of this will is 1551 and the year is 1892. Since the year would represent the year of probate it's entirely possible that Lydia died late in 1891. For the present, her year of death is shown here as 1892.
