Benjamin Arnold Graves was born on 11 December 1825 at Mercer County, Pennsylvania.2 He was the son of Roswell Graves and Mary Ann Betts. He married Lurancy Ray on 25 July 1845 at West Salem Twp, Mercer County, Pennsylvania. Benjamin Arnold Graves moved to Grant County, Wisconsin in 1854 and took charge of the County Poor Farm. About 1864 he moved to Crawford County, Wisconsin where he purchased a farm. He served as a Justice of the Peace in Crawford County. He was a member of Company K, 44th Wisconsin Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. He died on 12 February 1905 at Wauzeka, Crawford County, Wisconsin, at age 79.2 He was buried at Whig Cemetery, Grant County, Wisconsin.
