Both bride and groom were Presbyterian. |
| Note | She When Annie Cruickshank married Henry Vrooman in 1889, she was a widow and her name is shown on their marriage registration as Annie Helm. She gives her parents' names as James Cruickshank and Martha Rogers. Records show that Henry and Annie had a son Harold on 28 August 1890. The 1891 census at Fergus shows Henry, though Annie's name is shown as Mary. With them is a child, age 3, Wilma. Her name is represented as Vrooman, or Vrowman, as with the rest of the family. Also present is Harold, age 1/2 year, and Henry's brother Melvin. This researcher, to date, has found no marriage for Annie to a Helm, nor a birth record for Wilma. No earlier census information shows the Cruickshanks. No identifiable death registration for a Helm husband for Annie has been found. It appears as though the marriage did not work out, for Harold is with his grandparents Vrooman in West Garafraxa in the 1901. Melvin is with his parents, but Henry is not shown there. An Annie Helms with daughter Wilma has been found in the 1901 census in Toronto East. No later record for Annie or Wilma has been found. Harold married in 1919 in Orangeville and was aware of his mother's name, for he shows her as Annie Cruickshanks. |
