| Note | Page 112 of the Vrooman Family History book of 1949 states that Elizabeth Vrooman married Henry Glendinning. James Vrooman, Elizabeth's father, in his will written in 1871, he states that Elizabeth is the widow of Henry Glendinning. Henry and Elizabeth appear in the 1861 census in Brock Township, ages 39 and 34 respectively. This works for Elizabeth's date of birth as stated in the 1949 book. By the 1871 census, Elizabeth, still in Brock Township, is shown as a widow. No date or place of death or burial for Henry has been found.
At the time of the 1881 census, Elizabeth is in Brock Township. She is shown as a widow. With her is her daughter Catherine, a school teacher, and a child, Margaret, age 1, apparently a Glendinning. Elizabeth is shown as being 54, and it is unlikely that she is Margaret's mother. The child may be the daughter of John Glendinning who married Margaret Candace St. John in Toronto in 1879 and who, apparently, married a second time in 1880 to Margaret Johnson. A certain record for John and Margaret has not been found later. |
