NoteOur sources of information for Abraham Clemmer and Caroline Hermance are Ezra Eby's history of Waterloo Township and Canadian census years. Also of note is the Portrait and Biographical Record Dickinson, Saline, McPherson, and Marion Counties, Kansas, Chapman Bros., Chicago, 1893.

Eby's history has brief biographies for Abraham Clemmer and John Kraft, the husband of Caroline's sister Angeline. The Clemmer biography makes no mention of the fact, but the biography for John Kraft includes the information that Caroline and Angeline were twins. Their birth date is given as July 2, 1828.

Caroline's death registration places her birth in Beverly. The biography of John Kraft in the Chapman Bros. publication places Angeline's birth in Beverly as well.

The Eby history states that Caroline and Abraham had eight children. Certainly, the 1851 census shows them with four young children.
