| Note | Walter Misener is the son of Conrad Misener and Elizabeth Wells. The Conrad Misener who was the son of Adam Misener was Walter's first cousin. Page 25 of The History of the People of Troy, 1947, assists with this. Walter Misener is shown in the 1861 census as age 23, a lumberer, with wife Jane and son Alexander. He was enumerated immediately after his father's household. Death reg. 026910-97 Beverly Twp., Wentworth Co. Walter Misener died on Sept. 30, 1897, age 59. Residence lot 6 on the 3rd concession. Physician G. W. Barber. Informant George N. Misener. The location of Walter's residence, C3-L6, is accurate. He did not hold the whole 200 acre township lot. The abstract index for this lot shows the sale of 75 acres on 4 September, 1877, by James M. Coleman to Walter Misener. This was for three quarters of the north half of the lot - 75 acres. There are other transactions, but just when his wife, who appears to have been the administrator, finally sold off the lot isn't at all clear. The 1891 Farmer's Directory shows Walter as a freeholder on concession 3, lot 8. The available abstract index is incomplete and has not always reproduced clearly, but Walter did at least at some point have an interest in this lot. |
