| Note | She What is probably an early Cornwell family source has Margaret's place of birth as Brantford. The family did indeed go to Brantford, or at least to Brantford Township, but not until well after Margaret's birth. Probably, Margaret was born in Beverly Township. Margaret's parents purchased lot 6 on the 1st concession of Beverly in 1829 from John Mucklehone. Prior to that, they appear on Beverly census and assessments on lot 5 in the 2nd concession. See microfilm GS1417, or GS1417AA. We have no certainty, but Margaret was probably born on the 2nd concession of Beverly.
Beyond this, we do indeed trust to the Bell-Cornwell Family Record for the existence of Margaret for a later record has not been found. It would be interesting to know the source for Margaret in the Bell-Cornwell Record book. Hers is the only birth not dated. Considering her place in the list of children, we date her birth year to 1826. I freely admit that this is speculation, however considering the dependency that we have on this Bell-Cornwell list of children for John and Margaret, it seems inappropriate to leave her out. |
