Ritchie appears as Richard on his marriage registration. This may or may not be correct. Certainly, we find him in later years as Ritchie and he appears on his death registration as Ritchie and the same appears on his gravestone at Kirkwall Presbyterian Cemetery. Frequently, however, he appears as Richard on census information.

We do not have much information for Rev. George Chittenden, but he was a Baptist minister. According to a history of the Mountsberg and Westover Baptist churches, he entered the ministry in the early 1880s. He may have been at the Westover church which wasn't far from Kirkwall.

'Richie' Paterson died in the Galt Hospital on December 6, 1937. Residence given as Ancaster Tp., Ontario. Widowed. Born Kirkwall, Ont., on Jan. 19, 1855. Age 82 years, 10 months, 17 days. Retired farmer. Wife's name Jennie Thompson. Parents John Paterson, born Scotland, and Agnes Frier, born Ontario. Informant George Paterson, R. R. 2, Copetown, son. Place of burial Kirkwall, December 9th, 1937. Undertaker G. H. Swartz, at Jerseyville.

Ritchie's date of birth, Jan. 19, 1855, is as shown on his death registration. The 1901 census at Ancaster has him as being born on December 28, 1857.

With Ritchie in Ancaster is his sister, Isabella Patterson, age 48, and shown as housekeeper. With them are five children, the last born in 1895.

At the time of the 1911 census in Ancaster, sister Isabella is not on the scene, and his children are grown or well along. With him, however, is his father-in-law, William Thompson, age 76.

In the 1921 census, Ritchie is shown as Concession 1, lot 18, in Ancaster. With him is daughter Agnes, age 33.
