Witnesses Washington Buchanan of St. Catharines, and William Buchanan of Glenmorris.
On 25, November, 1904, at Galt, by Robert Pettigrew.

This story was told to me by a grand daughter of Washington Buchanan who liked to tell a story of his sister Catherine. It will be noted that she was ten years older than her husband. Her date of birth was December 4, 1854. The date of her marriage was 25th November 1904, while she was still 49. So the story goes, she said to Christie, if we're going to be married then let's get on with it. I don't want my marriage certificate to show that I was 50 when I got married.

Robert Pettigrew was minister at the Glen Morris church for many years and probably still at the time of the marriage of Christie and Catherine.

DeathHe died on 5 March 1960 at Nanaimo, British Columbia, at age 96.
BurialHe was buried on 8 March 1960 at Ladysmith Cemetery.
NoteAt the time of his marriage, Christie McDiarmid was said to be a resident of Moyie, B.C. His parents were Peter McDiarmid and Jessie Anderson. Some records refer to his mother as Jessie and some as Janet. Probably, at some level, both are correct. This is suggested by such information as we may glean from Scottish censuses. It appears that Christie's mother was in Canada in later years. Such census information that we have seems to indicate that she came to Canada about 1894 or 1895 to live with children in the Winnipeg area.

Certainly, Christie himself is in Winnipeg at the time of the 1891 census. He is shown as a student and evidently living with siblings. At the time of the 1901 census he is living with a sister in Marquette, Manitoba. His year of coming to Canada is shown as 1887 and he is shown as a clergyman. By 1911, Christie and Catherine are in Langley Village, New Westminster, B.C. They spent most of their later years at Ladysmith on Vancouver Island.
