Information for his death is taken from the February 9, 1934, issue of the Globe and Mail, Toronto. He is said to have spent the last two months with his daughter, Mrs. Dr. Avery, in Toronto.
His death registration has been found and reads as follows:
002098-34 Toronto, York Co. John C. Scott died February 8, 1934, at 1680 St. Clair Ave West, Toronto. Age 76, widowed, born Ontario, worked in wholesale produce industry. Parents Andrew and Jane Scott, both born Ontario. Informant Dr. W. H. Avery, 1680 St. Clair Ave. West, son-in-law. Buried February 10, 1934, in Mount 'Pleasant' (Mountview), Galt.
John's middle name Carrick is taken from the Middlesex County index of wills. His name will appear as such on his will, but wills are only available on microfilm for Middlesex to 1930.
