Ezra's first wife was Martha Southworth, born in 1843 in Bastard Township. by 1871 they are in Walkerton, Bruce County, and have four children with them. Martha died in 1878 and Ezra and Abenia were married in 1879. At the time of the 1881 census, Ezra and Abenia are still in Walkerton and the children present all appear to be Martha's.

Ezra and Abenia with their family were in Winnipeg, Manitoba, at the time of the 1891 census. They are in Yorkton, Assiniboia (later Saskatchewan) in 1901. According to information provided by Find-a-Grave, Ezra died in 1906 and is buried in Yorkton City Cemetery. The 1906 western census shows Abenia still in Yorkton, a widow, with some of her children. By the time of the 1911 census, Abenia is in North Dumfries, Waterloo Co. She is with her daughter Annette McKenzie and son-in-law Thomas McKenzie. The census information shows them as being on lot 3 of the 7th concession.
Abenia is still with Thomas and Annette as of the 1921 census.
