Nassagaweya is a township in Halton County. The the time of this marriage, Dumfries Township had been divided into North and South. North Dumfries was a part of Waterloo County and South Dumfries was a part of Brant. The clergyman does not record the fact, but since the marriage was likely held at the home of the bride's family in all probability is was held in North Dumfries. With time, the First Church entries did include the letters N or S for the township as appropriate. |

Torrance, United Presbyterian Church, Guelph Thomas Anderson, to Henrietta Wallace, both of Guelph. 25 Oct. 1855, by Licence. Rev. Torrance. Wit. James Morrison and Janet Wallace. Thomas and Henrietta are in Orangeville at the time of the 1881 census and he is shown as an inspector. His death registration is from an uninformative era, but his death registration shows him as a licence inspector, so we can with some confidence identify this registration as being for his death: Death reg. 004141-98 Orangeville, Dufferin Co. Feb 19, 1898, Thomas Anderson, 70 yrs., 3 mos. 2nd Avenue, Licence Inspector, born illeg., Fifeshire, Scotland. Informant Stephen Wallace. Thomas' age at time of death per his death registration, computes to an 1827 year of birth. His gravestone, however, in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Orangeville shows his birth date as being November 22, 1820. His death is dated to Feb. 19, 1898. He is buried in Forest Lawn Cemetery at Orangeville with his second wife Henrietta who died in 1912. |
