NoteLaura Wood, or Lara as she is shown, appears in the 1861 census for Beverly Township. She is listed immediately after her mother, Adelia Smith. Laura's age is given as 35 (possibly 33 - there is an ink smudge). Immediately following her name is a child, Eulyssa, age 7. Robert Wood does not appear on this census. The Wood tree on page 31 of the History of the People of Troy (1947) tells that Robert married Laura Smith. She is identified as a sister of Asenath Smith who married Robert's brother Lewis and, hence, a daughter of Samuel Smith and Adelia Benedict who are buried in St. George Cemetery.

The one other record that we have of Robert and Laura, which is at least probable, is to be found in the 1850 census at Oxford Township in the County of Oakland, Michigan. There they are shown as Robert Wood, age 26, carpenter, born N.Y., and Laura Wood, age 24, born Canada. With them is a son, Solan D. Wood, age 2 months, born Michigan. If Robert served in the Union Forces during the Civil War, a record of such has not been found. They have not been found with any certainty in later years.
